The cost of the current war in
Afghanistan is high and rising daily.
In addition to the sky-rocketing
human, monetary, and social
costs quantified here, there are
many other costs not so easy to
quantify but just as real:

  • costs to U.S. credibility
    both at home and abroad,
    especially as pertaining
    to respect for international
    law and human rights

  • costs to international
    security as the war casualties
    in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria
    provide terrorist organizations
    with an increasingly effective
    recruitment tool.
